Borley Rectory - perspective of an Essex resident

by Karen Fowler

I have visited Borley a few times, and what a lovely place to visit - so peaceful.

I have recently met [Borley historian] Andrew Clarke and he made us very welcome in his home. We spoke about Marianne Foyster which I found very interesting.

The writing on the wall at Borley Rectory fascinated me. I was reading an article on the pc about Borley, and some people believe that Borley is not haunted. It's only what people think, isn't it, but many people do.

One must take into consideration that the people who live in Borley should be left alone, and all these film crews should never have gone to Borley in the first place. They should respect the residence of the people who live there. And the graves have been dug up for "Evidence." It's such a poor thing to do. They should all respect the graves of the Bull family and the Foyster family. What would the film crew do if we pried on their land that is private property? They wouldn't like it.

These film crews filming about Borley using real life characters, what a poor. How could they do such a thing like that using live characters makeing out to believe and acting as tho as if they are the Bull family, and the Foyster family. If Mr Bull was alive today he would shoo these people away, also the Foyster family too.

One must know how these familes use to live day by day, what were their commitments. Back in the 1930s it was hard to find jobs. Some people today who live in Borley have seen so many changes.

As for Borley rectory and the church, do these phenomana still carry on within the church itself, and does the grounds of Borley Rectory still carry strange carry ons even in the grounds where the bungalows are once now private land. One should leave the private lives of those concerned alone, and let Marianne Foyster rest in peace.
